GALLU EXEC STEERING GROUP
ABERGLASNEY GARDENS
4th March 2005
In attendance:
Gary Davies
Diana James
Chris Osborne
Lisa Johnston
ACTION POINTS:
* Investigate what the extension date of the project is. DIANA JAMES
* A working group to be established to investigate what provision already exists for work placement. Suggested that we requested this info from HE Institutes and that Jennie Evans from Trinity, Andrew Campbell from SIHE be approached and Gary could get us a foot in the door at Lampeter as he sits on their board. At a later stage perhaps UWIC could be consulted. Springboard should also be approached to discover what initiatives they had already explored for work experience. ECO / GD / LISA JOHNSTON
* The next WW Hospitality forum should be transferred to the next agenda for the next meeting although it was noted through conversation that a possible awareness raising theme could be taken, e.g. food handling, with the aim of encouraging the trade to engage with the forum and that training providers could be invited to have stands relevant to the raising awareness where they could sell their wares. LISA JOHNSTON
* First Aid and Fire Safety courses which are relatively economical to be run may be used by the Gallu team as hooks to encourage trade engagement however things like food safety may not. GALLU TEAM INFO
* Section 4 Grant Training and Visit Wales Training need to be discussed with Lucy O’Donnell. GARY DAVIES
*Modules of the section 4 grant workshops are to be sought and copyright to be identified if applicable. DIANA JAMES
* Website Site Statistics are to be based on Unique Visits per month and steering group request a graph so that it be can easily identified whether there has been an in/decrease of visitors. MICHELLE EVANS
* Marketing of Website can we make sure that we have links from as many agency bodies and training providers as possible i.e. RTP, TTFW, Who do I ask etc. MICHELLE EVANS
* We should by now be marketing ourselves more aggressively to the trade we at the very least need to ensure that we are in every issue of trade talk, if we liaise with Lucy she will give us dates etc. LOWRI EDWARDS
* It is agreed that Gallu may have Administrative Assistance. LISA JOHNSTON
*In response to PSV Licences and Dinghy Licences and Rock Climbing Licenses, the rationale behind Gallu inability to provide funding is: "These forms of training result in a qualification that must be held in order to carry out that job role; as such it is statutory training and cannot be funded through WEFO."
