GALLU LAUNCH – The Training Maze!
Gallu had a successful launch on the 22nd of September 2004 at The National Botanic Garden of Wales.
50 delegates attended the launch, ranging from Training Providers to Local Businesses and Associations. The launch was set up in partnership with The West Wales Hospitality Panel, The Tourism Training Forum for Wales, The South West Wales Regional Tourism Partnership and local Tourist Associations in the area.

Chris Osborne, Chair of the West Wales Hospitality Panel welcomed everyone and explained the task which was ahead of the attendees! The theme of the launch was the training maze; people in the launch were left loose in the National Botanic Garden great glass house to find questions about the training within the tourism industry. It was a lot of fun and was a great way for people to network and learn about the project.
Diana James, Director of The Tourism Training Forum for Wales spoke about the project and Lisa Johnston the Coordinator of ‘GALLU’ finished the afternoon off with the results of the task and the history of ‘Gallu’ and its future plans.
It proved to be a successful afternoon and everyone was very enthusiastic about the project.
What Have the Gallu Team Been Up To?
Since the appointment of the three members of staff in July, the ‘Gallu’ team have been busy meeting training providers in their areas to find out what courses are available for businesses and how they can work with training providers in the future.
Each officer has met with their Tourist Association and has introduced themselves and explained about the project.
The Training Needs Analysis (TNA) has been compiled and the Gallu team have started meeting with local businesses to find out what their staff and business challenges are. A number of training courses have already been identified and people have also been signposted to courses which are in the area.
The project is proving to be a success as businesses are finding it beneficial to the development of their establishments.
If there is a course you would like us to facilitate which will help assist your business please let the Gallu team member in your area know.
