Don’t miss out on this fantastic tour of some fantastic attractions along the Llanelli Coast! Find out for yourself what you and your guests can do in the area!
First Stop will be to the National Wetlands Centre, Llanelli for a tour and talk of the centre - http://www.wwt.org.uk/.
Llanelli Wetland Centre is home to many hundreds of wild and resident species stretching over 450 acres on the Burry Inlet. This magnificent mosaic of lakes, pools and lagoons is home to countless wild species as diverse as dragonflies and little egrets. Plus over 600 of some of the world’s most spectacular ducks, geese, swans and flamingos, many so tame they feed from the hand.
A safe home for a collection of over 600 of the worlds most spectacular birds and many of the species that you''ll see are rare or endangered. WWT are involved in breeding and conservation programmes to protect these species and their natural habitats.
Next will be to the Millenium Coastal Park for a quick overview of all the things available to do there! - http://www.millenniumcoastalpark.com/
Millennium Coastal Park occupies approximately 10 miles of coastline on the Burry Estuary. The park runs adjacent to the towns of Llanelli and Burry Port, the park offers superb views along its length of the Gower Peninsula.
The Coastal Park offers many unique features including a continuous traffic-free cycle/footpath, the National Wetlands Centre for Wales, and a championship links golf course. Burry Port and Pembre harbour’s plus Millennium Quay and the Discovery Centre.
The park attracts over one million visitors a year, which makes it one of the most popular visitor destinations in the UK, as well as a centre for a host of outdoor pursuits.
The park has won a number of national Design and the enviromental awards, in 2004 it won the Amazing Space Helping Hand Award for the biggest transformation by a Lottery funded project.
We will also call in with Merlin Cycle Tours, who are located at the visitor centre for a quick overview of the services they can offer your guests when they come and stay!

Before visiting Pembrey Country Park we will call for lunch at The Ashburnham Hotel for a taster of some of the dishes they have on their menu. http://www.ashburnham-hotel.co.uk/
The hotel has seen many changes over the years. In more recent times it has been extensively refurbished to provide a first class establishment where the comfort and personal service of their guests is paramount. They are set in their own grounds and overlook the championship Ashburnham golf links while the newly designed Jack Nicklaus championship golf course is only a short distance away. The hotel is on the edge of the Millennium Coastal Park with its extensive paths, cycle tracks and views of the Gower Peninsula. A short stroll through the park will bring you to the picturesque harbour of Burry Port – a haven for small boats.
The next stop will be to Pembrey Country Park, where parks manager Neil Perry will take us on a mini bus tour of all the facilities available for your guests. http://www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk/english/leisure/countryside/countryparks/pages/pembreycountrypark.aspx
Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Gower Peninsula and overlooking the coastal scenery of Carmarthen Bay, the Park had been transformed into one of Wales’s top visitor attractions providing a unique blend of coast and countryside.
The final stop will be to Go Ape! Tree Top Adventure in Pembrey (new for 2010) where we will have a talk and tour of the course from the ground!
The Pembrey course has been built following the Go Ape recipe - take one lush, green forest, a healthy dollop of breathtaking scenery, blend with a smattering of tree-top high wires, tricky crossings and wind-in-your-face zip wires; and finish off with a liberal dose of people in search of their inner Tarzan! The serve up an adventure that never fails!
As Go Ape will not be open for visitors on the day we visit they have kindly offered attendees a 20% off voucher for your next visit so you can come and try the course out for yourself with your friends and family!
