Category: Project Partners & Funding Opportunities
The Project will bring together those with an involvement or interest in tourism in rural communities of Carmarthenshire.
Focussing on five hub areas (Carmarthen, Whitland & St Clears, Llandeilo & Llandovery, Newcastle Emlyn & Drefach Felindre and Lampeter & Llanybydder), through regular cluster meetings - such people and businesses will be encouraged to work together to identify their area’s tourism industry gaps and needs – with the aim of developing new, or building upon existing, visitor products and services.
As well as the support of the Rural Tourism Officers, other project activities will include: organisation of meetings and events, training opportunities, best practise visits and a ‘Feasibility Fund’ grant pot to help undertake research and feasibility studies to develop any initiatives and ideas resulting from the clusters.
Projects and initiatives developed through this project will also be signposted to apply for various grant pots available - including the new Rural Development Plan funded ‘Strengthening the Tourism Appeal of Carmarthenshire’ grant fund - in order to bring them to fruition.
A Project led by Carmarthenshire Tourist Association and part funded through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 (which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Union), which aims to develop sustainable rural communities in Carmarthenshire through the development of tourism.
